Fabricate: Colour Testing

I have started testing acrylic paint colours on my acrylic off cut. This is to see how thick the paint needs to be to get the desired look.

To begin with, the acrylic paint is quite thin.

I have added layers of paint to increase the thickness and therefore the colour density. This is more like the desired look I was aiming for.

I have decided that I want to use a mixture of red and black on the acrylic model. These colours work best to help portray my three words. I tested using a mixture of red and black on my practice piece.

I also came up with the idea to leave the front and back faces plain acrylic, and then paint the left and rights sides a mixture of red and black. I tested this idea and found this really effective. It was tedious work trying to leave the front and back faces clear, and only paint the sides. But it looks really good and is very effective.

I am going to continue using this idea to paint my real model.
