The Beaten Track has been completed.
It details the story of a dog that has been abandoned and takes refuge on a beach. The dog wanders around day after day lonely, sad and waiting the inevitable; death. A man sees the dog on the beach and begins to interact with the lonely animal. One day the man decides to rescue the forsaken dog and invite in into his home. The dog is seen being loved by the old man, and being feed and playing. Clearly the dog is happy in the new home. Until the dog becomes sick and lays around all day. The dog dies, but dies happy as it got to spend time with the old man who rescued it.

The twine I have found was a perfect thickness for what I wanted, unfortunately it was an unfortunate off white colour that lacked any lustre or vibrance. So I decided to dye it. I didn't have any dye with me so I looked in my kitchen cupboard to see what I could find. I was originally thinking of using a tea bag to dye the twine, but I found coffee which was browner and thought I would give it a try.

I have tested out a few different ways to bind my comic together involving different knots.
The way that is going to contain the comic the best is the knot below as it has the strongest hold. I also like the way it looks, have many holes with separate ties holding each hole together with the pages beneath.

Comic book (zine) so far:

I have been working on the title and further design of the title page to the comic. I have decided to call the comic "The Beaten Track" as in it a reference to multiple things within the comic. Firstly, the most direct reference is the fact that the dog has been abandoned and most likely beaten. The second is that the dog has had a very hard life and has been beaten by life. The third is the fact that the dog ultimately ends up dying despite being rescued.
