Proper use of lighting, framing staging and other elements such as composition, can effectively create visually strategic situations that display a direct picture. This helps to make the image readable and also help the narrative.

Visuals within the picture can change the context of what is happening.
Establishing the world the story is happening in and therefore the tone that the story will follow needs to happen at the beginning. This way the rules have been laid out on the table and the reader can watch the events from here on.

Animating the scene is important for comics as still frames are used. To include the sense of motion the angles which are used are important to get a sense of motion within the scene. This is determined by the surrounding environment.
It is important to make use of negative space ie the space that doesn't contain any elements. The negative space does however have its useful features by using it to create contrast, framing and scale ratios. There are more ways that it can be used so it is important to consider the negative space. Reminder this is not empty space, it is still used.
Order and chaos are two contrasting elements that are used to send different messages. Order has a more rigid, structured, dominated appearance, whereas chaos is more random and softer than the previous.
