Growing up in New Zealand meant that we had to learn Maori as part of the school ccurriculum. One of my favourite parts was reading the books by Peter Gossage around Maori folk stories and legends. One of my favourites was reading How Maui Slowed the Sun as it was a powerful message about the strength of one person. These books by Peter Gossage have wonderful, simple, Maori designs and also uses hard colours that are seen in many Maori designs.

Here are some examples from the books by Peter Gossage of the Maori designs he uses.

 I want to incorporate some element of the Maori design, particularly some of what I have learned growing up as a different culture.
