DSDN101: Pattern Development

I have been working on creating a pattern and will look at adapting colour into this pattern in the future. I decided to continue with the blind drawing as it is a different technique to drawing that I have never used before. I like that the resulting image looks very abstract when you compare it to the original inspiration.

This is the beginning tile that was a blind drawing of a rococo style ring that I was wearing and the Exodus logo on my drink bottle. These are of course abstract versions. I decided as they are very open forms, to use black ink to draw the forms and will incorporate colour from there. Everything looks better in ink than pencil.

I then used Photoshop to create a tile paper of A4 size to see how the tiles fit together to create the pattern.

I am really happy with how this pattern has turned out. I think it was a good idea to use blind drawing to create abstract forms as it creates a very interesting patten due to the randomness created. This is especially true when the abstract forms are compared to the originals.
