I really like how this leaf expands into different sections which stem from the same single point of reference. The leaf is connected by veins which are the lifeline of the leaf for nutrients and also determines the form the leaf will take. There is symmetry to this leaf in terms of how many sections there are, however, the ends of the leaf are slightly different proportions to each other.

I love how you can see the veins of the leaf from a different angle. You can see the hierarchy of the veins, and how the veins connect to provide nutrients to the plant. You can also see how there are several veins that connect to the stem of the plant, and then how these travel to cover a larger surface area of the leaf.

This leaf is starting to curl around the edges. This is caused by either too much heat or over fertilisation. The rhythm of the curling creates quite an interesting design around the outside of the leaf.

With the fern the leaves are small in relation to the connecting vein. This vein has to be really large to supply the nutrients necessary for survival. Therefore the proportions are different to other types of leaves.
