DSDN111: Ideas and Principles of Design

The beginning of a new project is here, and this is where I will start for Information Aesthetics.

"Your design challenge is to undertake a rigorous design process in the creation of abstract three-dimensional forms based on three formal approaches: Plane, line, and mass."

That one sentence in itself contains so many possibilities and opportunities I don't even know where to begin thinking. I can't wait to apply the skills I have already learned in DSDN104 and DSDN142, as I look forward to this course.

As stated in the brief, we are to explore the design principles, strategies and methodologies as we discover and create from inspirational precedence. With a world full of ideas, creativity and imagination iterative designs come into play. I have already learned in this course, there are no original ideas, only iterative and developmental designs from previous ideas. Using inspirational precedence this developing process of an original idea will be applied to my own work.

I will also be looking at the relationship between the physical shape and the spatial geometry in the surrounding area. As both of these are linked, careful consideration between the two is neccessary when trying to portray and idea. Being able to convey the idea in the surrounding space is an important skill which I hope to learn throughout this course.
