Structure & Noise: Bridget Riley

Bridget Riley is an English painter involved in Optical Art. She has many pieces that use black and white colours only to create many optical illusions. For example the piece below. Although this has been created with a pattern, the way it has been repeated and then changed makes the eye see it differently.

This is what I want to try and achieve with my model. I want to work with the idea of creating a structure out of negative space, hoping it will give the effect of an optical illusion. Therefore, when it is seen, will the structure made out of negative space be prominant, or will the noise be overbearing?
